A work that really caught my eye was the painting. A luohan is a spiritual individual who has accomplished a higher understanding of the Buddhist religion. The piece was created in 1591 and is ink and color on paper.

The subject I have chosen for the second part of the Non-Western portion of this assignment is Japanese theater; more specifically Noh theater. The costumes are often elaborate and colorful, thought to help keep the audiences attention on the character. He is both a painter and metal works artist. Lately he has been exploring fish symbolism in his works, which has created a trademark style. His paintings often incorporate large schools of vibrantly colored fish, swirling in mesmerizing designs.
