Thursday, 22 February 2018. Another amalgamation of my Pendeen Birding. Posts from a half-term trip down to the far South West. Stork Talk 5th August 2015. Black Stork has always proved a difficult bird for me to catch up with. Considered rare, I think only 233 have been seen before in Britain. Until today I had never seen one in Britain as they usually turn up a long way from where I live and are often just seen soaring overhead, high up in the sky, and if one does settle on the ground it never seems to stay in one place long enough for me to drive to see it.

An extreme example where the brown is restricted to the edges of the wings.
Sunday, 12 July 2015. I made the long journey north to catch up with this little chap ,it was very worth while. A number of times it was hovering less then 6meters away. I noticed that the web site stated " Wildlife and travel diary of an Oxford naturalist." They also stated " Icterine Warbler at Burnham Overy Dunes, Norfolk Wall Brown 15th Aug. A fall of Eurasian drift migrants across eastern England on Friday prompted my first out-of-county birding twitch of the autumn passage. The outstanding candidates for me were two Icterine Warbler.
