St Cuthberts is the largest parish church building in Somerset. We are so big, and have such a prominent position in the heart of the city of Wells, that visitors often think they have reached the Cathedral as they arrive through our mediaeval entrance porch. Like all Church of England churches we are pleased to welcome anyone from any part of the worldwide Christian church.

In 1848 St Cuthberts church in Wells in Somerset rang with the sound of chisels and hammers as builders busied themselves on a programme of renovation. As layers of crumbling old plaster were removed on the east walls of the transepts, an astonishing treasure emerged. A jumble of brightly coloured sculptural fragments faces, pinnacles,PARSED CONTENT
