Final robot used in the competition. Circuit diagram of Rangefinder by Samantha Williams. We used a HC-SR04 rangefinder to give the robot a pair of eyes. Since the sensor is able to determine the time between triggered and returned signals we can use the speed equation to determine the distance of the object. We can then manipulate the equation to determine distance.
