Zastanawiam się, jak to możliwe, że staliśmy się sobie całkiem obcy. Zadaję sobie to pytanie nawet teraz, po tak wielu latach, gdy spoglądając w lustro, nie widzę już młodej dziewczyny, lecz starszą panią z włosami przyprószonymi siwizną i twarzą pooraną zmarszczkami. Oczy też się zmieniły, straciły dawny blask. To wina podeszłego wieku czy może skutek zostania starą panną? Tego nie wiem. Wiem za to co innego. Nie potrafiłam pokochać nikogo innego.
