The fresh and salty diary of a westcountry wild swimmer. Meldon has a story rooted in limestone. On the northernmost fringe of Dartmoor; where the roughness of granite yields to rolling pasture and where, on a fair day, the horizon widens to embrace the sea, the hamlet of Meldon is best known for its quarries.
Like me, they are both keen on vintage swimwear. We had a week on the Island of Coll. Beaches, very rich and varied bird life and is also a Dark Sky Community. For a quieter swim I chose Loch Breachacha, close to the two castles, which slopes very gradually and feels ver.
