Why paint a series of gnomes? I became intrigued by the curious connection that people have to gnomes while I was reading about garden history during the time I was painting for the Pigmentia Show. It struck me that the same process that connects people to paintings and personifies art objects also imbues the humble garden gnome with life and character.
