Basically, just me writing. Published April 28, 2014. Recently, I received a job offer. At first, I was almost glad. My family was sending me off to this, after talking me out of grander offers. This was decent, and higher paying, but less of an adventure. Receiving the paperwork, my heart leapt into my throat.

This is the arrangement that was widely practiced in India. Though today boys and girls meet each other before finally agreeing to marry but this meeting is generally too short and is arranged by the families only. Family find, verify and finalize the spouse. Further in this arrangement the majority of the time of the married couple was not spend with each othe.

Purging is very literally a prison; the bars are self-doubt and a nagging anxiety that grows stronger by the second, fed by indecision and a gnawing unhappiness that happily eats away at your mind. When I purge, I see stars. My whole body is on fire and I feel worse than I did before I purged. I felt my breakfast turn in my stomach as I made my way to the quietest bathroom on campus.
