An adventure in Hertfordshire archaeology. Today we just about managed to run the mag, the GPR and the resistance meter. The latter was principally to see if my attempts to get rid of the striping problem had been successful. Mike asked me if we were as far on as I hoped after the first week. I have been pleased with progress, but this prompted me to look at the bigger picture.

The site had the following in the homepage, "Together with his wife Merle Rook founded the organisation in 1960 after the discovery of Roman tiles being dumped on a spoil-heap during the construction of a motorway." I noticed that the web site stated " Rescuing tiles led to the discovery of Dicket Mead Roman Villa." They also stated " WAS challenged the local authorities and were able to preserve the remains of the Roman baths. In a steel vault 30ft under the A1M motorway in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.
