A Portrait of the Math Teacher as an Aging Man. This morning I had the pleasure of presenting a session at the summer conference for the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I know a few people in the organization and in a twitter conversation with Bob Lochel. I wrote up a proposal for a session called. Escaping the Tyranny of the Textbook. The site had the following in the homepage, "Classroom Setup Part 1 Classroom Posters." I noticed that the web site stated " FYI 1 is a list of the principles that guide specific rules and procedures in my classes." They also stated " 2 is for rewards in my class. I am giving out tickets this year for positive behavior, and students can spend their tickets on the list in the general store. 3 is a reminder that x is just a symbol in Algebra class. 4 is my wifes class reminder of expectations for class.
