While working this morning, I noticed the Firecrest. In the garden again, along with a male Blackcap. Later in the day I headed to George V Avenue for a seawatch but this was so quiet that I gave up after 25 minutes, notching up only singles of Red-throated Diver. Along with two Sandwich Terns. Wednesday, 21 March 2018. Flew over and a Goldcrest.

MIDLANDS BIRDER

It is always an excellent day, with 6 hours driving, with a long day in the field is always a little daunting. Some birds are enough to get you off your backside though, a mythical bird that will be on your lips for weeks to come, and with the weekend approaching, boom. Snowy Owl in Norfolk! Massive, white and heavily barred! What a way to spend the morning! Wednesday, 12 July 2017. And the Hayling Island bird? It was soon co.

Morgithology

Gannet at Barns Ness, 31 Jan 2016. I reported this Gannet as a possible Cape Gannet. And then I thought I had nailed the gular stripe and I was fairly convinced. Initial views were confusing as I thought I was looking at a bird just slightly larger than a Fulmar.

Moysies Birding Blog

The last couple of weeks. Since the delights of the Bee-eaters at Theberton, there have still been some really successful trips in the last few weeks. The next bird to go on the list was Nuthatch, where we had tried 3 times for this elusive bird in Shrubland Wood this year and failed. Well, on July 23rd, we finally saw one, calling and moving around the wood with a tit flock.

By the end of the month we had amassed a respectable 126 new birds and 3 controls, 1 of which having been caught at Eyemouth the precious year but yet to find out about the other 2! Scottish Wildlife Watcher Wildlife Watching from East Scotland and holiday destinations

Wildlife Watching from East Scotland and holiday destinations. This summer I was lucky enough to participate in a week long Young Birders Training Course on the Isle of May hosted by the SOC. I will be writing up my experiences shortly but due to the large number of photos taken, I decided a separate post showcasing them species by species would be appropriate. Unbeknownst to many, the beaver is actually a nati.

A Naturalist Writes My blog about wildlife.

The bird was only a couple of metres from me. The branch of the Scots Pine swayed precariously as it tried to find its footing, but it managed to keep its footing. An ornithological wallflower not much bigger than a wren. But without a doubt,in my opinion, definitely the strangest. What makes it so strange? But of course, there are several example.
