In some cases you can reason to the point that you start being certain of the reason you performed the mistake or action. Certainty can have different sides to it. It is good to have a solid stand point on the reason you did something but if its an illegitimate reason thinking that it is right and even being certain that it is right may actually make you fail at rectifying your mistake.
