After completing and thinking about the persona poetry project I completed with my 6th grade students, I have some final thoughts I will share. With all projects I put into action in my classroom for the first time, there were positive and negative outcomes throughout the process. It was great to see the poetry assignments of my classmates. The assignments showed a great depth of knowledge from students at many different levels. It was great to hear that this I Poem format offered great structure and provided an opportunity for success for students who struggle with writing. I like the way poetry helps students demonstrate their learning on a deeper level than typical research does. I will definitely use this technique in the future.
