I really like the way the unit starts out. Pirate music playing in the background and pirate objects all around the room. The children would be hooked. I also think that the Pirate Notebook is a wonderful idea. By having a place to keep all Pirate Materials, students are more likely to keep up with stuff. I think that this is a well written unit and I hope that I will have the opportunity to use it at some point in my teaching career.

This would be a terrific book to introduce poetry within the classroom. Is going to be a great tool for me and I am looking forward to reading more.

I am not a person who likes poetry at all. But after reading these books that was assigned I can say that I do like SOME poetry now. I loved the book LOVE THAT DOG, it reminded me of myself at that age. Jack is a typical boy and it took new and exciting things for him to appreciate a fondness of poetry. What is a Name?
