Teacher as Reader and Writer. Taking a risk with technology. After two weeks in the class all alone it was sort of a risk to also incorporate technology into the class. It is an exciting time by the second week of take over and I attempted to start a Wikispace with my class. You might wonder what about. Well it is! First Day Last official day. Students made a book and called it Clowny with a chance of Plane Crash. I loved that writing can be so much fun.
After quickly showing the first graders in my class how to make a post to our brand new science blog, I was a little concerned with how this little experiment of mine would go. Even with the simplest of platforms that I could find, there are so many steps and I could see their faces filled with confusion and concern while I showed them how it would work.
An uncommon journey into the field of Education. When do you take a stand? May 26, 2014. Letting the Superintendent know my opinion? When do teachers take a stand, or do they? Soon we will be hearing a lot about our state taking a stand. I cannot help but wonder if the cart is being put before the horse again where perhaps a combination of quality professional development for teachers and more social support systems in communities needs to happen to boost student performance before teachers have to prove.

Now I want to touch on the importance of giving feedback to our students. 8211; Get to know which students are able to hear blunt feedback and take it and work hard to improve, and get to know which students need you to build up their confidence by pointing out what you noticed them doing well and giving feedback that shows you are proud of them.

I recently finished an intriguing book that is less of a book about technology, but more a book about the social shifts in how we learn due to the dramatic changes in technology.
