Once the plasmid was inserted into the bacteria, it was able to fluoresce. These are the four different dishes of bacteria.
This photo shows that under UV light, the only colonies that fluoresced were the pGLO which had arabinose in their environment.
Thanks for dropping by samcareybiology! Take a look around and grab the RSS feed. Mdash; Leave a comment. Plate with -pGLO and just LB. In this lab, we attempted to complete a transformation of a gene into a bacteria. We used plasmids, small rings of DNA, to insert a new gene into.
Where it is copied into a form of RNA by the RNA polymerase. This process goes through 3 stages starting with. Where the RNA polymerase binds to the DNA on a certain location. Where the copying is complete and the RNA can then proceed.

Once the detergent had dissolved the nuclear and cellular membranes, the DNA was released. Because the DNA is less dense than water, it floats above the water. In alcohol, DNA forms into clusters and strands, which is what we could see in our test tube. On February 10, 2012. On November 29, 2011. On November 16, 2011.
