In Biology class today, we ran a lab concerning deoxyribonucleic acid, better known as DNA. The pGLO plasmid did .
All about Biology Honors and how NEAT it is! May 7, 2012. In conclusion, we had a successful lab. Two of our plates were also ampicillin resistant so we could say that because we compared them to our control plates. For more info click here. For Wikipedias take on Dinoflagellates click here.
Below are two pictures of the samples containing pGLO DNA, LB, ampicillin, and arabinose under UV light. The Process of DNA Extraction. In this experiment, we extracted DNA from wheat germ. The DNA was white, cloudy, and thick. Kendra found this very interesting. The Effect of Color on Photosynthesis.
In this experiment we tried to modify E. coli bacteria with GFP, a gene that should allow the bacteria to both fluoresce, something done when arabinose, a sugar, was added to their nutrients. This was done by injecting the bacteria with a plasmid called pGLO, a plasmid that had both the gene for GFP as well as a gene that would code for a resistance to ampicillin.
On May 6, 2012. On April 5, 2012. On February 17, 2012. N order to seperate the DNA, we had to first dissolve the cell membrane. Once the detergent had dissolved the nuclear and cellular membranes, the DNA was released. Because the DNA is less dense than water, it floats above the water. In alcohol, DNA forms into clusters and strands, which is what we could see in our test tube. On February 10, 2012. On November 29, 2011. On November 16, 2011.
