Dewi Ratih, is a 35 m double ended sailing Schooner, inspired from Asian and pacific boats from the past, such as Chinese Junk, Vietnamese Cochincine and Indonesian Phinisis. However she can also be build in a different context and other material such as steel or aluminum. She is design to be handle by a limited crew, assist with the latest deck and rigging equipment.

Papillon is one of my early design, and I enjoy very much to sail and develop her rig. I am in the process to design a new version of Papillon, that will be release very soon. She was design to hold water ballast in removable tank, but I never ballast her even by rough wind because the sail was easy to rife and I was able to low down the center of effort significantly and instantly. Thank you to my cousin Olivier Tarot who share his sail maker knowledge to develop this sail.

Tarian Ombak belong to a series of double ended design study. She is inspired from the boats of Madura island in Indonesia, but should not be regard as a replica or a typical Madura boat. Most Madura boat use an unusual lateen rig configuration, that look very similar to the Papillon sail design. Indonesia benefit from one of the richest maritime culture on earth, with a population of sailor know as Bugis who are consider as the gipsy of the sea. Indonesian boatbuilding and art of sailing is my major source of inspiration, and this is what bring me in this fascinating country. This experience, allowed me to explore few boatbuilding activities in remote area.

Bibup is a contemporary double ended sailing yacht, with a fine keel and spade rudder. Ideal boat for offshore cruising with a smooth ride and all comfort on board. Double ended sailing yacht have proven themselves over time to be very sea worthy. The famous naval architect Colin Archer study those boat with great care for life saving vessel capable to endure extreme weather.

Con Rong belong to a series of double ended design study. She is inspired from a Cochinchine vessel from Vietnam. I present her with a classic schooner Marconi rig plus a suspended sail commonly use in Vietnam as a jib, but this sail can be replace by a classic jibs. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Clic clac is a fun little dinghy, which can be rig with many standard cat sail set on dinghy of similar size. The Papillion can also be compared to a Lateen sail and has elements from the Bermuda rig,. It will allow you to explore a multitude of configurations.

These blog pages are a first step prior to developing a complete website that presents some of my work over the last ten years. Most of these designs are at early stages and are previously unpublished. I will progressively add to this site.
